about the project
Through the I Want My Jacket Back Project, Dr. Jenn Freitag uses dialogue, performance, and humor to engage issues of gender violence. In her interactive lectures, workshops, trainings, performances, and writing, she draws upon evidence-based research, principles of a comprehensive approach to gender violence prevention, and over a decade of experience in crisis response and prevention to create accessible opportunities for dialogue.
Dr. Freitag created the I Want My Jacket Back Project in January 2011 as an interactive solo performance. A hybrid of stand-up musical comedy and facilitated dialogue, the goal of this show is to catalyze critical thinking, inspire hope through humor, and invite candid conversation about gender violence. As an ongoing project, Dr. Freitag travels nationally to provide interactive lectures that incorporate solo performance pieces including original songs, stories, and poetry. She also provides workshops, trainings, and consultation for college campuses and organizations across the country.
